Spotswood Family Day Care

Family day care (FDC) is a government approved early childhood education and care service provided within a qualified educator’s own home. The small 1 to 4 educator to child ratio provides more personalised attention and care than a larger centre. Children build strong, secure and nurturing relationships with their educator.

The environment at my home is welcoming, inclusive, safe, supportive, and fun.
Learning programs are individually tailored for each child based on their interests, strengths, stages of development and in consultation with families.

The “home away from home” environment provides a warm, relaxed, and secure space for children to be active participants in their own learning, to express their own ideas, and make choices as they engage in play-based learning.

I provide an indoor and outdoor program with regular excursions to playgrounds and parklands providing opportunities to socialise, engage in physical activities, explore and engage with nature.

I love being out and about with the children exploring the world. Encountering spontaneous events out in the real world are gold in early childhood. Unplanned moments invite genuine questions driven by curiosity. Children learn that learning happens anywhere and everywhere.

Apart from reading books to the children I also talk out loud about what’s happening as it happens – “narrating the day”. Books, nursery rhymes and talking all build vocabulary and language, sentence structure and model conversation.

I am a very patient and calm individual. I am a father of two school aged children. I have worked in childcare centres, but my passion is in family day care.

FDC is childcare subsidy (CCS) approved.
